Henshaws College

Henshaws College offers high quality further education and training to young people with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and specialises in visual impairment.

We aim to make a visible difference to all our students by focusing on their abilities.

Students attending Henshaws College can be assured they will receive the specialist equipment, resources and support they need and to the highest standard. The College's recent Ofsted inspection awarded Grade 1 - Outstanding for Independent Living Skills and Mobility, whilst all other areas gained Grade 2. Key strengths of the College were identified as learner achievements, teaching and learning, support for learners and arrangements for work experience, whilst the extended curriculum was described as "excellent".

With over 30 years experience, our team of dedicated staff have all the specialist skills and expertise needed to make a lifelong, positive difference to our 65 residential students. Henshaws remains the only residential college of its kind in the north of England. Day placements are also available to those living within travelling distance.

The College provides unique opportunities for learning which extend into 'out of college' hours. This extended curriculum reinforces the transference of skills learned in the classroom into students' everyday lives.

The College campus occupies a greenfield site on the outskirts of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, with excellent road, rail and air links.
