Henshaws is now offering its Skillstep to Success course in Newcastle.

Skillstep to Success

A tremendous lottery windfall awarded by the Big Lottery Fund under its Strategic Grants Programme in May 2004 enabled Henshaws to take a giant step in replicating its already successful Skillstep project into the Newcastle area.

Skillstep is a free twelve week prevocational training programme for visually impaired people who are unemployed or on benefits and wish to develop their skills and confidence to reach their true potential in life.

The course is flexible and training is tailored to individual needs and goals.

Participants develop their IT and work related skills, build confidence and self-esteem, improve their independence and gain access to information, guidance and work experience opportunities. This course is ideal for those wishing to progress onto employment, voluntary work or further training.
