Donations

Henshaws work for blind and visually impaired people across the north of England is reliant on voluntary income. Our services are offered free of charge to people that need them, but cost money to run.

You can make a difference! Here's how:

Make a regular gift

Make a regular monthly gift to Henshaws by standing order. This provides Henshaws with a steady source of funds, giving us the security to plan for the future and the confidence to develop new projects and services. It cuts down our administration costs and means that we can spend more money directly on services which benefit people experiencing sight loss.

You can choose the amount to give and when you want to give it, and it doesn't need to break the bank. For just the price of a packet of cigarettes, a bottle of wine or a couple of magazines per month, you can make the most enormous difference to people living who are experiencing sight loss.

  • Set up a regular gift online, right now through our secure site.
  • Or if you prefer download a regular giving standing order form here and then post it to us at Henshaws Society for Blind People, Freepost NWW2893A, Manchester, M16 1HB (no stamp required but it saves us money if you do.)

Donations

All donations, of any size, make a difference. Please support us today. Just £25 could buy new toys for our specialist toy and tape lending library. Just £40 could pay to provide support to an elderly person experiencing sight loss, enabling them to continue living independently in their own home. Just £100 could pay for a handy guide for families giving the whole family access to advice, information and practical tips designed to make everyone's life easier.

  • Donate online, right now, through our secure site.
  • Donate by credit or debit card over the phone, by calling the Appeals team on 0161 872 1234 during office hours.
  • Donate by cheque - please send your cheque made payable to Henshaws Society for Blind People. Include your address on the back of the cheque and send it freepost to: Henshaws Society for Blind People, Freepost NWW2893A, Manchester, M16 1HB.
  • For your security and ours, please never send cash through the post.

Gift Aid

When you donate, whether it is a one-off donation or a regular gift, please remember to Gift Aid your donation. For every £1 you donate, we can claim an extra 28p from the Government. This means that a donation of £10.00 becomes worth £12.80 - it doesn't cost you a penny more but it makes a tremendous difference to our funds. You need only make a Gift Aid declaration once but it will apply to every donation you make or have made in the last 6 years prior to this year and for any donations you make in the future. If you stop paying tax you should let us know.

It's simple and easy to set up and it greatly increases our income, ring 0161 872 1234 for details or download a Gift Aid form. Gift Aid Declaration pdf

In memoriam

A donation in lieu of flowers at a loved one's funeral is such a generous way of remembering someone, whilst at the same time supporting Henshaws work. Donations of this kind are very much appreciated. You can use the Donate Now button to make a gift to Henshaws or donate by phone or post.

Donations in lieu of special occasions

Getting married? Having a special birthday or anniversary? In these days when so many of us have so much, sometimes it is nice to offer your friends an alternative - why not ask them to show their support to Henshaws by making a donation instead of buying you a present? You can donate in all the usual ways - online, by phone and by post - but if you want to make things a bit more interesting why not set up your own free personal fundraising webpage with our partners at Justgiving.com ?

Home Money boxes

Henshaws bright, colourful home money boxes are a great way to save your loose change for a worthy cause. Made of card they are flatpacked and we can easily send you one through the post. When your box is full simply empty out the change and post us a cheque or pop in with your full box. We will give you a new box to replace your old one. To request a home money box e-mail: appeals@henshaws.org.uk or telephone the fundraising department on 0161 872 1234. Request a few and give them to friends, family, neighbours or colleagues.

Gifts in Kind

A practical non-monetary way of supporting our work. Gifts in kind act as great raffle or auction prizes and contribute a great deal to our fundraising activities.

We are immensely grateful to all of our supporters - every gift, however large or small, makes a difference. Please, if you can, lend us your support today.
